Match report from Saturday’s game home to Milford: It was a superb performance from start to finish from all 12 players involved against the previously unbeaten league leaders. The boys worked tremendously hard off the ball to remain compact, be hard to beat collectively and individually and at times threw their bodies on the line to block shots and crosses. A solid defensive display was aided by a commanding performance from Harvey in goal who caught crosses, made a couple of excellent saves, showed good distribution and was vocal throughout.

Having gone 1-0 down early on in the game the lads did not let this affect their performance as they kept pushing forward and creating chances with some excellent attacking play. Jack and Finn showed great composure on the ball in central midfield with Ethan and Freddie looking a real threat in behind the opposition’s defence. We deservedly equalised in the first half with a superb header from Fraser who rose at the back post to head in an excellent cross.

The second half continued in the same vain as the first with both teams looking to break the deadlock but finding both defences and goalkeepers difficult to break down. Just when it seemed we would have to settle for a hard fought draw Freddie popped up with a superb finish in the bottom corner with literally the last kick of the game to win it and end Milford’s 100% record in the league. A hard fought victory against an excellent team played in the right spirit throughout by all players.
