Saturday saw us facing off against the only team to beat us so far this season, having done so in both the league and the cup, so this was set to be a tough game for our boys. It was clear to see in the warmup and pre match team talk that the lads were fired up for the game, and that they were hungry for the win.

We started well in the first half, keeping the ball well in stages, but we were struggling to create any clear-cut chances. The visitors had less of the ball in the first half, but they did threaten a number of times, with Albert being forced into a couple of early saves. Towards the end of the first half, we finally managed to make the breakthrough, an unbelievable free kick delivery from Reggie was met on the volley by Andrew to put us into the lead, a deserved lead at half time.

Petersfield came out firing in the second half, they kept the ball well and were creating more chances than we were. The pressure paid off when they were awarded a penalty with 20 minutes left to play, which was well taken, sending our keeper the wrong way. After the penalty, the game became more of a battle and there were chances at both ends.

Our winner came in the 85th minute when some lovely interplay sent George through 1v1 who slotted the ball right into the far corner – great finish.

The match finished 2-1, but we were left with a somewhat sour taste in our mouths as one of our players reacted badly to a foul which led to an altercation between a few of the players. Our player was wrongly given a yellow card, but our coaching staff removed him from the game anyway as he should’ve been sent off.

Thanks to Petersfield for a good game, and good luck for the rest of the season!
